About Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

Opened in 1926 (Taisho 15), this is Japan's first public art museum, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The museum aims to be a "gateway to art" open to everyone, where people can view exhibitions, children can visit, aspiring artists can exhibit for the first time, and people with disabilities can visit without hesitation. One of the highlights is the building, designed by Kunio Maekawa, a master of Japanese modernist architecture.
"Swedish Painting: Nordic Light, the Radiance of Everyday Life" is the first exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
